Hamsters

For the last few years, the girls have been asking for a dog. I would always say "when we get a new house." Well, we got a new house. Then, we told them we would get one in the Spring. (No one wants to train a puppy in the snow.)

Well, it's Spring. I am soooo not ready for a dog right now. So, we decided to start with hamsters. Hailey was thrilled and excited to have some pets to practice taking care of before we venture into the life of dog care.

We scored an amazing cage and a couple of rodents off of KSL for less than $40. (I was thrilled about that.)

The girls loooooooooooove them. Seriously. It's been a few weeks and I thought the excitement would have worn off, but they are still going strong. They love these guys.

Erin named Mike Wazowski and Hailey named Snowflake. I'll try to get some better pictures of them later. They are fast little buggers.

The girls love to help take care of them!

I don't remember my hamster being so stinky. I was able to find some products that significantly decrease their stink. But it's still not awesome. It doesn't seem to phase Hailey. (They are living in her room.)

Shiner.

Erin got a shiner a few weeks ago from falling off a chair and hitting another chair on the way down. This is about a week or so after the fact.

Saying "Goodbye" to New Friends

There is a family in our new neighborhood that has 2 little girls the same ages as Hailey and Erin, and they play so well together. Sad for us, they are moving next week. We had a late night with them one night this past week so their parents could go out. In order to maybe get them to go to bed, I told them they could have a sleep over until they girls had to leave. They were thrilled. I loved listening to them whisper and "shh" each other. And to my surprise, they were asleep in about 45min.

A few days later, we had them over for the morning so mom could pack.

Morning Playtime

The girls have way more fun in the morning when Josh gets up with them. Nothing like turning the table into a tent. (Thanks, Babe, for letting me sleep in.)

Model Rocket

The girls were sooo excited to set off our model rocket. Hailey and Josh spent some quality time putting it together. (That girl loves working on projects with her daddy.)

They both got a turn to shoot it off.  It was pretty loud and startling, but they thought it was awesome.
