What a Good Mommy

Hailey has started pretending and it is so much fun. Yesterday she found her cabbage patch doll and wanted it to have lunch with her. I sat the doll on Hailey's tray and we started to say the prayer. During the prayer I heard "pray." When I opened my eyes, Hailey was holding her doll's hands together. It was so cute.

Then, she wanted her baby to sit with her in her chair. She asked me for a spoon and then tried to feed her baby some macaroni and cheese. Here are some pictures.




Later in the afternoon, she was helping Elmo walk down the stairs and we had this conversation...
Hailey: "Snat."
Me: "You want a snack? Do you want a cookie?"
Hailey then turns to Elmo: "Tootie? Tootie?" and then she put his mouth up to the side of her head.
It was a yes.

She has also started reading to her stuffed animals.

Canning Salsa

So we did this a while ago and I completely forgot to do a blog about it. So Josh and I grew some tomatoes this year. And when I say "some", I really mean we grew thousands of yellow pear tomatoes....way more than necessary. Well, the cold weather was coming and we had tons and tons of little green tomatoes that we didn't want to go to waste. So, we spent many hours cutting through our overgrown plants and collecting all we could. Then one evening I went to Josh's parents house and the ladies canned green salsa. It was pretty fun. My first experience canning my own homegrown stuff.

The salsa turned out yummy. You just have to add cilantro when you open it.

Happy Birthday Nathaniel

This afternoon we went to Nathaniel's birthday party. Nathaniel is one of Hailey's buds and he turns 2 this week. He had a party at Chuck E. Cheese and Hailey thought it was pretty awesome. She loved driving the cars and watching the robot characters sing and dance. I had a hard time getting her to look at me when I was trying to take a picture because she was too busy looking at everything else that was going on. It was a bit of sensory overload, which made her a little clingy. But, over all, she had a fun time.

Good Day for the Park

The weather can't seem to make up it's mind, but yesterday we got a really nice day and decided to take full advantage of it. We went down to the playground at the Sports Park. It's pretty nice and very toddler friendly. We had it to ourselves for the first hour, which was nice.

Hailey being a monster to the leaf bug...it's kind of hard to see the bug.

Hailey loves to swing. If we aren't fast enough to "heop" her get in, she figures something out.

Family Pictures

Saturday afternoon, we were able to go up Payson Canyon to take some family pictures. It was lots of fun, and Hailey was a good sport even though she was tired. Luckily Grandma had some fruit snacks on hand. Thanks Jeff & Mickey for going up with us and taking pictures.

A few months ago, Josh's dad went to China for work. He brought this dress back for Hailey. She is now the right size.

Balloon Ride

This past Saturday, Josh and I got up early and went up to Park City for a Hot Air Balloon Ride. It was kind of cold, but pretty awesome. It wasn't an exciting kind of experience, but it was really serene and peaceful. The view was amazing. I would definitely recommend it. Thanks Dad & Debi for the ride. And, thanks Sam & Kristen for babysitting.

A Conversation to Remember

I'm in the habit of repeating everything Hailey says to me, back to her, so that I'm sure of what she's saying. Well, she has recently started saying "Otay," and it has made our conversations kind of funny. For example...

Hailey: "nee milt"
Me: "You need milk?"
Hailey: "Otay."

Hailey: "I nee Elmo."
Me: "You want to watch Elmo?"
Hailey: "Otay."

She says it like it was my idea all along. It's as if I'm offering her whatever she happens to want at the moment.

Really the whole purpose of this post is the following conversation. It was so cute and I figured I should write it down to have when she decides she doesn't need my help anymore.

Hailey was eating some applesauce and was having a hard time keeping it on the spoon from the bowl to her mouth.

Hailey: "Appisauce...hep."
Me: "Do you need some help?"
Hailey: "Otay."

We had this conversation 4 or 5 times...until she was done eating her applesauce.

YAY!

Hailey went peepee in the potty last night for the very first time. It was awesome. I think it was more of a coincidence then her actually feeling like she had to go potty, but at least we are on the right track!

Frankenstein

A new theatre company is in town...Mortal Fools Theatre Project. Their first show is Frankenstein and it is going to be incredible. The cast is amazing and the lighting designer is fantastic, not to mention cute (it's Josh).

Opening night is Oct 17th, but preview night is the 15th and it is half price ($6).

It will be an awesome show. A great date night, especially for the Halloween season.
