Blast Off

One of Hailey's more recent interests is rockets. Here she is in her rocket with all her puppies...

All prepped.

The countdown.

BLAST OFF!!

Funny story...

One morning Hailey asked Josh where he was going and he responded "to the moon." Then he left for work and the following ensued...

Hailey: "Mom, I want to build a rocket so we can go to the moon."

Me: "Ok. We can build a rocket."

Hailey: "I want to paint it."

Me: "Ok. I'll get some paper and we can paint a rocket at the table."

Hailey: "No, I want to paint it outside. A real rocket."

Me: "Hailey, we can't make a real rocket, but we can make a pretend rocket."

Hailey: "No, I want a real rocket to go to the moon."

Me: "Sweetie. We can't make a real rocket. Daddy isn't really going to the moon, he is going to work."

Hailey: cosmic meltdown "No! A real one! He's IS going to the moon!"

Me: "Sweetie..."

Hailey: "NOOO!!" more cosmic meltdown

Me: calling Josh "Can you please tell your daughter that you aren't really going to the moon?"

It was pretty awesome. And kind of unexpected because we play pretend ALL the time.

Slack Lining with Friends

We got our slack line out for the first time in a couple of years. It was so much fun...and much harder than it used to be...

Mudbath Anyone?

What do we do when we are stuck inside potty training?

Well, drive our cars of course.

Driver Hailey and passengers Erin and Elmo

No More Diapers

Gathering them up and throwing them away. Hailey was so psyched!

The celebration dance after the first win on the potty!

Potty training with Hailey was so much easier than I had anticipated. She did great! It is sooo nice to have her in big girl panties. And she looooves it. Thankfully, she has toned down the number of strangers she shows her big girl panties to.

Courtesy Bean

This is the one bean we got in our garden this year. Awesome..I know. And when I say "we got one bean", I don't mean "we got one bean and lots of zucchini, cantelope, watermelon, spinach, and tomatoes." I mean, "we got one bean...that's it." And, we didn't even eat it. I don't really even know what happened to it after I took it's picture. Hmmm..

Erin's Blessing

Josh gave Erin a beautiful blessing the first Sunday of August. It was a gorgeous day and we were lucky to have family near and far there for the occasion. Erin wore the same dress that Hailey did. (I'm going to get their names and blessing dates embroidered on it and maybe one day it will be used by granddaughters or great granddaughters.) Erin did great! No crying. And Hailey did great being reverent so mom could listen to the blessing!

So Beautiful

When my fam was here, we went to the mall to find Josh some new shorts for his birthday. While we were wandering around, Hailey and Peaches found themselves by the makeup counter and the lady there gave Hailey a makeover. She loved it.

Gotta love a wide angle lens.

Swimming with Aunt B

My sis Brinlin was able to make it out for a few days while our other visitors were here. It was so much fun to play since we don't get to see each other much. She took Hailey swimming and they had a blast racing with Marley, jumping off the side, and just goofing off.

While they swam, Erin made silly faces.

Fun with Aunt Marley

Hailey loved having an 8yr old to play with for 2 weeks. Hailey even got to have a sleepovers at their hotel.

Pioneer Day Parade

My mom and sister got into town the day before Pioneer Day. I was excited to go to some festivities because they have never experienced Pioneer Day, and we haven't ever really done anything for it either. This year we decided to go to the parade. It was a hit, Hailey loved it. We were also lucky enough to have Papa Jeff and Josh's Aunt Karen to join us.

the start

Hailey's reaction to the muskets and firetrucks.

This guy was SOOO excited about Smokey the Bear. Pretty sure he was just trying to embarrass his teenage daughter. He was pretty awesome.

She danced every dance/cheer group.

Erin slept through the whole thing.

Who knew that...

...egg chairs are great for sleeping?
