When Josh's mom passed away, one thing we were sad about was that Hailey is so young that she will forget most of the experiences she had with Mickey. I know when I think back as far as I can, I only have a few snapshots of life as a small child. I'm not sure if they are real memories, or just ingrained photos I've seen so much from my childhood. Either way, they are still precious moments. Josh and I are trying all we can to keep Mickey fresh in Hailey's mind. We have a photo album that we look through regularly and we talk about her and the fun things her and Hailey did together.
The one thing we really want Hailey to remember is how much Mickey loves her. Mickey was (and I'm sure still is) crazy about Hailey. And, one of her favorite things was to get hugs and kisses. To help Hailey remember how much her grandma loves her, I made her a quilt. I used one of Mickey's skirts and Hailey helped me pick out the rest of the fabric. It's not very big, the squares don't line up, and the edges are a little curvy, but Hailey loves it. Hailey knows that every time she wraps up in her blanket, it is a hug from Grandma Mickey.
